Raffaello Di Biagio Labo Violin

Cremona, Italy

Raffaello Di Biagio was born in Campiglia Marittima (Livorno) on 6 February, 1972.

He started studying violin making under the guidance of Maestro Stefano Conia.

He attended the International School of Violin Making “A. Stradivari” in Cremona and successfully took his degree in 1998.

At the request of that same school he gave an inlaid viola , made after profound studies on the Hellier models by Antonio Stradivari, to its Museum.

He is a member of A.L.I. (Italian Violin Maker Association, professional section) and of the Violin Makers and Bow Makers Association “A. Stradivari” in Cremona.

“ Throughout my working life I continued to visit the most celebrated master violin maker in order to increase my knowledge and research the artistic character which, today, is visible in my instruments.

At the age of 28 I organized seminars for musicians in various Italian Academies. One of the seminars I organized at the prestigious Julliard School of Music in New York. I concentrated on the history and technical construction methods and had a great deal of success. I enjoyed the interaction with the musicians very much.

Whenever I went to New York I sought out the possibility to see and touch master pieces built by Stradivari, Amati and Guarneri which was possible only due to the gracious help of Mr. Bruno Price who, to this day, I am very grateful.

My artistic development is not only due to the many positive experiences, life at times has sad and painful moments in store which I had to conquer which have had a profound influence on my character and are ingrained in my instruments ”.
